First Church Defiance Tech Team is responsible for providing Audio, Video, Presentation, Graphics, Broadcasting, and more for the First Church Family.
The Tech Team provides wonderful opportunities for volunteers. It’s one of the best places in the church for people with technical or creative minds—and often more introverted personalities—to shine while making a real difference.
No experience is necessary to join the Tech Team.
At times members of the Tech Team are asked to serve outside of Sunday mornings, if they are able, for weddings, funerals, and other special events.

Positions and summary of responsibilities
FRONT OF HOUSE
Sound Engineer
The purpose of the sound engineer is to provide transparent sound reinforcement to allowing the most comfortable environment without distractions for the audience through proper mixing, equalization, effects, and more.
In addition, the sound engineer takes care of the set-up stage for musicians to ensure they have required equipment (cables, microphones, monitors, stands, etc) prior to the start of practices, run throughs, or services.
A sound engineer could be utilized in the live audience environment or broadcast/live stream positions.

We use ProPresenter software to control the lyrics, graphics, scriptures and more that is presented to the audience, stage personnel, and the broadcast/livestream. Lighting is edited through computer-based software.
Overtime, as knowledge of the Presentation and Lighting software is occurred, set-up of the services, graphics, sermons, as well as lighting scenes will be taught.

The camera controller and video switcher are current two jobs in one. Responsible for ensuring correct camera framing, focus, and exposure on our movable PTZ camera, while also running the video switcher to provide our Online Congregation with a pleasing viewing experience.
Broadcast Audio
Similar to FOH audio the broadcast sound engineer is responsible to provide a well-mixed sound to our Online Congregation.
